We are excited to highlight a recent construction project organised by Redbox Architects in the Nelson area for the Nelson Orthodontics Richmond Practice. This project has garnered significant recognition, with Redbox Architects being selected as a winner in the Commercial Architect category for the 2024 Nelson Marlborough Architecture Awards.

Our Allied Concrete Nelson team was proud to collaborate with Coman Construction to supply the concrete necessary for this impressive build. This project not only showcases our commitment to supporting award-winning architectural endeavors but also highlights our strong partnerships within the construction industry.

Material Selection and Construction

The Nelson Orthodontics Richmond Practice project utilised exposed precast concrete panels, chosen for their durability and anti-graffiti coating, ensuring resilience in potentially harsh public environments. A concrete floor slab and mid-floor constructed of precast ribs with timber infill were selected to meet stringent engineering requirements while providing a service cavity under the dental chairs for essential utilities such as electrical, water, air supply, and suction.

This thoughtful material selection and innovative design approach exemplify the seamless integration of functionality and aesthetics, which is crucial for such specialised commercial spaces.
