Recent wins at the Annual Concrete NZ Awards has seen Allied Concrete once again recognised for our technical and operational expertise.

Allied Concrete are proud to receive the 2018 Technical Excellence Award for our involvement in the New Brighton Pier Earthquake Strengthening Project, following the Christchurch earthquakes. A great effort from our Christchurch team, overcoming environmental and logistical challenges to supply a highly technical custom mix design to restore structural integrity to the Pier’s 17 support columns damaged in the earthquakes, significantly limiting the Pier’s lifespan.

Our efforts help ensure the structure will now be around for future generations to enjoy. Allied also received a special commendation for this project.

Allied Concrete also won the 2018 Sustainability Award for Excellence in Commercial Concrete Construction, for our development of Structural Lightweight Concrete which included the use of expanded glass aggregate made from post-consumer recycled glass in the construction of the lightweight precast panels of AUT’s Engineering Tech building, a New Zealand first.

As part of the New Zealand Ready Mixed Concrete Association Plant Audit Scheme, Allied Concrete Plants received nearly half of all 61 Excellence Awards received by all registered New Zealand ready mixed concrete suppliers.

Congratulations to Allied Concrete Technical Project Manager Chris Munn who was awarded an Honorary Membership to the NZ Concrete Learned Society for his life-long contribution to the NZ Concrete Industry.
