Case Study

  • Recycled concrete

    recycling

What do you do with concrete left over from a project and returned to the plant?

In Wellington this concrete is poured across the ground in a neighboring site and left to dry. The following day the concrete is broken up and pushed in a pile. Once the volume builds up, the concrete is broken down in a manageable size before it is put through a quarry crusher.

The crushed concrete is graded into NZ Standard 12mm and 19mm aggregates and can be ready to re-use in concrete.

  • Love thy neighbour!

    stahltoncromwell

Late in 2009 Allied Concrete Cromwell were given the opportunity to supply their neighbour, Stahlton in Cromwell.

Its never easy for a company to change supplier so it was great to hear Tim Day Stahlton branch manager say:

"We have been experiencing great consistency and fantastic technical support since we started using Allied Concrete".

  • Is that really concrete?

    Rocks_Road

Rocks Road in Nelson, running from the Port through to Tahuna is known for being very busy as well as the location for some magnificent homes perched on cliff tops.

With the cliff prone to slipping an engineering plan was designed which involved the use of Shot Crete concrete supplied by Transit Mix Concrete to A1 Pumping.

While the project itself was unusual and challenging, the key part was getting the concrete coloured to match the natural tones of the cliff. Peter Fell colour 326 was used with great success.
